Guide: AI in business › AI in marketing, advertising and content
AI graphics are fine for sketches, illustrations for posts and presentations, or testing ideas, but usually not for a logo and corporate identity: legal protection is uncertain, the mark may resemble someone else’s, and above all it lacks the strategy a logo should grow out of. An AI logo generator gives you dozens of options in a minute. None of them knows how your company differs from the competition. Below we explain when AI graphics make sense, how to use them safely, what they cost and at what point you need full branding.
In 60 seconds Five things about AI logos
- How it works: the model creates an image from a text description, and an AI logo generator does the same, only in the form of a company mark.
- Where it works: in any marketing department for sketches, illustrations or tests. A generated logo is at most a starting point for a conversation with a designer.
- The real cost: a generator subscription costs a few dozen zlotys a month, but with a logo you mainly pay for strategy, design, trade mark searches and registration (in the EU from EUR 850 for one class).
- First step: write down your brand rules (colours, style, no-gos) before anyone in the company starts generating images.
- Legal risk: copyright in AI images is uncertain, and realistic depictions of people and events must be labelled from 2 August 2026.
What is AI graphic design and how does an AI logo generator work?
AI graphics are images that an artificial intelligence model creates from a text description, i.e. a prompt (an instruction written in plain language). You describe the scene and style, specify the colours, and after a few seconds the model shows several versions. This is how Midjourney, Adobe Firefly and the image generators built into AI chats work.
An AI logo generator (in English-language search engines: AI logo maker or AI logo generator, a po polsku często po prostu „stwórz logo AI”) to ten sam mechanizm zamknięty w prostszym formularzu, do którego wpisujesz nazwę firmy i branżę, dorzucasz kilka przymiotników, a kreator logo AI podsuwa gotowe znaki.
The model doesn’t “design” in the human sense; it learns from millions of existing images and assembles something probable from those patterns. That’s why AI graphics can be striking but often resemble things we have already seen. For an illustration in a post, that’s no problem. For a company mark, it is. We have gathered the full map of AI uses in business, from copywriting to automation, in our guide to artificial intelligence for marketing and PR.
When is AI graphic design enough, and who will really benefit from it?
Here are situations where AI graphics save time without much risk:
- illustrations for articles, presentations or posts, as long as they don’t depict real people (we cover slides separately under presentations created with AI),
- sketches and variants for a conversation with a designer, because you can show what you mean faster than you can describe it,
- testing ad creatives before commissioning production (more on this under AI advertising),
- backgrounds and textures, as well as decorative elements for materials that will pass through a designer’s hands anyway,
- packaging or stand mock-ups for an internal meeting, before the budget decision is made.
Why is a logo from an AI generator a risk for a company?
- Copyright. Polish copyright law protects a work, i.e. a manifestation of human creativity of an individual character. An image generated by AI without a significant human creative contribution may not be protected. The US Copyright Office takes a similar view in its report of 29 January 2025: merely entering a prompt does not give enough control over the result to consider a human the author.
- Similarity to other companies’ marks. The model learns from existing graphics, so a generated logo may resemble another company’s registered trade mark, and the risk of a dispute lies with whoever uses the mark. The scale of the problem is illustrated by the lawsuit Disney and Universal filed against Midjourney on 11 June 2025 for infringing rights to film characters.
- Trademark registration. A logo can be filed as a trade mark with the Polish Patent Office (Urząd Patentowy RP) or with the EU office (EUIPO), but the application may be challenged by the owner of an earlier, similar mark.
- No system. Logo to jeden element.
AI logo generator, graphic designer or branding agency?
The question isn’t “AI or human”. It’s rather: how much risk can you accept and how much strategy do you need? The table below shows where each option makes sense.
| Criterion | AI logo generator | Graphic designer (freelancer) | Branding agency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to first proposals | minutes | days | weeks (after strategy) |
| Strategy and brand differentiator | none | usually limited | starting point of the project |
| Certainty of rights to the design | low | high, if the contract transfers the rights | high, if the contract transfers the rights |
| Similarity check against existing marks | your responsibility | depends on the contract | usually part of the process |
| Identity system (colours, typography, rules) | none | often in a basic version | full brand book |
| When it makes sense | sketch, test, internal project | small business, simple mark | new brand, rebranding, entering a new market |

Zasady oznaczania opisaliśmy w poradniku o labelling AI content.

How to use AI safely when creating a company logo
If AI is to speed up your company logo work rather than land you in a dispute, stick to the right order. Brand decisions first. Then the generator, and finally a human and a lawyer.
- STEP 01Write down what the logo should say
Three to five sentences are enough: who the company is for, how it differs, and which associations are desirable and which are off-limits. Without this, any AI logo generator will suggest “nice” but random marks.
- STEP 02Generate sketches, not a design
Use AI to gather 20–30 directions (shapes, typefaces, colours) and mark the 3–4 that best reflect your brief. That’s material for discussion. It is not a finished logo.
- STEP 03Hand the direction over to a designer
The designer redraws the mark from scratch, refines the proportions, legibility at small sizes and the black-and-white version. Make sure the contract transfers the copyright to the company.
- STEP 04Search the trade mark databases
Before publishing, search the Polish Patent Office and EUIPO databases for similar marks in your classes of goods and services, ideally together with a patent attorney.
- STEP 05Record how it was created
Keep the sketches and prompts, and note the dates and tool names, so that in a dispute or when a client asks you can show what the human contribution was.
- STEP 06File the trade mark and build the system
After registration, add colours as numerical values, typography and usage rules. Only then does the logo start working for the brand.
How much does an AI logo and graphic design cost, and what drives the budget?
The generator itself is cheap. Everything around it is expensive, from the team’s time and the designer’s work to trade mark searches and, in the worst case, a dispute. The table shows public prices of tools and official fees (as of September 2026) and items whose cost depends on scope.
| Item | Cost or factor | Source / note |
|---|---|---|
| Midjourney (subscription) | from USD 10 to USD 120 a month; companies with revenue above USD 1 million a year must have the Pro or Mega plan | Midjourney, plan comparison |
| Adobe Firefly (subscription) | from USD 9.99 to USD 199.99 a month | Adobe, Firefly pricing |
| Trade mark application at the UPRP | PLN 400 for the first class (electronic filing), PLN 120 for each additional class | UPRP fee schedule as compiled by a patent law firm |
| Trade mark protection at the UPRP (10 years) | PLN 400 per class | Urząd Patentowy RP |
| EU trade mark (EUIPO) | EUR 850 for one class, EUR 50 for the second, EUR 150 for the third and each additional class | EUIPO |
| Designer’s work | depends on the number of versions, revisions and the scope of the rights transfer | individual quote |
| Brand strategy and brand book | depends on the number of brands, markets and research | individual quote |
How do you keep your brand consistent when the team creates AI graphics?
The biggest problem with AI graphics in a company is one of image, not law. Every generator “speaks” in a different style. One post looks like a fantasy film poster, another like a stock photo and a third like a child’s drawing, and the audience stops seeing a single brand.
The model doesn’t know whether an image is “on brand”. So a human reviews every graphic before publication, with the list of rules at hand. You can read more about what makes a recognisable brand in our article on brand identity.
Do AI graphics need to be labelled?
Article 50 of the AI Act has applied since 2 August 2026. Anyone who publishes a deepfake (a realistic, artificially generated image, audio or video depicting existing people, places or events that the audience could take to be real) must disclose that the content is artificial. According to an analysis by the law firm Morgan Lewis of 12 August 2026, this obligation has not been postponed. What has been postponed, until 2 December 2026, is the obligation for providers of tools that were on the market before August to apply technical, machine-readable labelling to content.
In a company, this comes down to a simple rule. An illustration that clearly doesn’t pretend to be reality usually doesn’t need a label, whereas a photorealistic “photo” of an employee, customer or event that never happened does. We set out the details in our guide to labelling AI content and in the overview The AI Act in Poland, and we write about the risk of faked likenesses under deepfakes.
Don’t generate likenesses of real people without their consent. This is not just about labelling but also about personal rights and trust in the brand.

W Midjourney firmy z przychodem powyżej 1 mln USD rocznie muszą mieć plan Pro lub Mega, a to zmienia rachunek. O tym, dlaczego powtarzalny wygląd buduje brand recognition, piszemy osobno.
Drugi miesiąc. Zespół buduje wspólną bibliotekę poleceń i uruchamia obieg akceptacji. Każda grafika przed publikacją przechodzi przez jedną osobę z listą zasad. Fotorealistyczne obrazy ludzi i zdarzeń dostają oznaczenie albo w ogóle nie powstają. Jeśli równolegle AI pisze teksty, ustaw oba procesy razem, co pokazujemy w poradniku o copywriting and content marketing with AI.
Trzeci miesiąc. Pomiar. Bierzesz ostatnie trzydzieści publikacji i liczysz, ile z nich spełnia zasady. Porównujesz to z kwartałem sprzed zmian.
Znak unijny w dwóch klasach kosztuje 900 euro.
Zanim zlecisz logo albo kupisz generator, zadaj te pytania:
- Kto przeszuka bazy Urzędu Patentowego RP i EUIPO w naszych klasach?
- Kto zatwierdza grafiki przed publikacją i gdzie to zapisujemy?
When is AI enough, and when do you need full branding?
AI graphics make sense in day-to-day communication, i.e. posts, illustrations and tests. The signal that you need something more comes from a change in the company itself. Not from a new tool.
Full branding is needed when you change the company’s name or positioning, enter a new market, merge brands after an acquisition, or when your materials look as if several different companies made them. The logo is then the last step, not the first: first brand strategy, differentiator and communication style, then the visual system.
Timing matters too. Plan a rebrand a few months before an important event (a trade fair, a launch, a sales season) so there is time for trade mark searches and replacing materials, because a last-minute rebrand usually ends with a generated logo and another rebrand a year later.
Want AI to speed up work on your materials while keeping the brand consistent? That’s what we do in our AI Brandingservice, and we handle building or refreshing a brand from the ground up as part of our Commplace branding. We have described the tools that work well in companies in our overview the best AI tools for business.
Where companies most often trip up with a generated logo
Without searching the trade mark databases, you risk a letter from the owner of a similar mark. You will then pay for replacing all your materials, not for a subscription.
When a designer refines an AI sketch without a contract, the company can’t be sure it may freely use and defend the mark. This usually comes back to bite when the company is sold or at registration.
Everyone on the team uses a different style, after a quarter nobody recognises your materials, and fixing it means reviewing and replacing hundreds of graphics.
Generated faces posing as real people must be labelled. When your audience finds out, you lose the credibility of all your communication.
Plans differ in commercial use rights and image privacy. In Midjourney, for example, large companies must have the Pro or Mega plan, so a cheaper plan may mean breaching the terms.
Questions about AI graphics and logos we hear from clients
Can an AI-created logo be registered as a trademark?
A trade mark can be filed regardless of how it was created, but the office or another company may challenge it if it is similar to an earlier mark. On top of that, copyright protection for an AI-generated image is uncertain. It is safer to treat AI as a sketching tool and commission the final design from a designer under a contract that transfers the rights.
Do AI graphics need to be labelled?
The obligation under Article 50 of the AI Act (from 2 August 2026) applies to deepfakes, i.e. realistic images of existing people, places or events that the audience could take to be real. An illustration that clearly doesn’t pretend to be reality usually doesn’t need a label. Even so, agree one written rule in the company that everyone follows.
Which AI logo generator should a company choose?
Choose a tool whose terms clearly describe the rights to generated images and commercial use. Adobe states that Firefly models are trained on licensed and public domain content. Whatever the tool, treat a generated logo as a sketch.
How do you create a company logo with AI without taking risks?
First write down what the logo should communicate, then generate a dozen or so directions, choose the best and hand them to a designer to redraw from scratch. Before publishing, search the UPRP and EUIPO trade mark databases, and keep a record of how the design was created in case of a dispute.
How much does it cost to register a logo?
At the Polish Patent Office, the fee for trade mark protection is PLN 400 per class, plus the filing fee. An EU trade mark at the EUIPO costs EUR 850 for one class when filed online (as of September 2026). If you use a patent attorney, add their fee.
How do you keep the brand consistent with AI graphics?
Write down your brand rules so that they can be checked: colours as numerical values, illustration style, a list of no-gos. Build a shared library of proven prompts for the team. A human looks at every graphic before publication.
Will AI replace graphic designers in logo design?
It speeds up the sketching stage but doesn’t replace the decision about what the mark should say, or responsibility for the rights to the design. Legibility and proportions, as well as versions of the mark, are refined by a designer. Brand strategy remains the work of people who know the company and the market.
